This opinion piece makes some good points about AT&T’s

policy. For now, it’s just for their "Internet customers", but a
company willing to do sell their customers’ data for fun and profit
(oh, yeah, and Fighting Terrorists! Right! This is all about Fighting
Terrorists. And profit.) is unlikely to ignore those millions of
phone customers. We shall see.
Thanks to Brian, who pointed out that Cingular bought AT&T Wireless,
which wasn’t the same company as AT&T anyway, so I can still consider
a Treo
