Actually, the "winner" of the lunch contacted Juan. He claimed to have told us that appetizers and drinks were not covered, (he didn't. He did say that he didn't know his lunch was on our tab and offered to repay us for that *if* we sent him the bill (which, of course, none of us brought home.) If I could find an email address for Juan's boss or any of the Ameriprise executives, I'd be sending them email. If you work for Ameriprise and would like to point some of your bosses at this blog post, that'd be great. I'd love to see a response from someone in Juan's management chain.

I think that what "Juan" did was very unprofessional and unethical. I am hopeful that there was a mistake at the restaurant and that Juan did not dod this intentionally. I am in the same business as Juan and at the same company (Ameriprise) and it just kills me to read this type of story because these things do happen. They happen at every company and they give the rest us of us a bad name and make our work that much harder.

I recommend that you contact Juan and/or his boss and inform them of the situation. I think that Juan, his boss or the company should not only pay you back for what it cost you, but should also offer you a truly "free lunch."
