ALTERNATE CYBERWARE DESCRIPTIONS These documents contain a rather large selection of cyberware for GURPS. A lot of the material is inspired by ICE's CyberSpace RPG (which certainly does have its virtues), much of it origniates from GURPS Cyberpunk and Ultra-Tech, and the rest is more or less my own invention. Since there are more than 120 different items, I've divided them into loose categories, with one file for each category. There is also a separate file which simply lists all the items by name and cost. Each item description includes the item's cost, how much the operation to install it will normally cost, the time needed to recover after the operation, and also the item's mass and power requirements, if any. There are no character point costs listed, as I don't use them in my games (the PCs in my campaign will have enough to worry about already). The costs for operations are, of course, not writ in stone; I'm sure all of you can think of situations where they might be altered or waived entirely. Recovery times assume that proper TL8 medical attention is available. If this is not the case, double recovery time for each lower TL. If medical attention of a higher TL is available, halve the time for each higher TL. If a system has non-negligible mass, that mass will be permanently added to the character's body mass and encumbrance. The unit used to measure power requirements is equivalent to one standard TL8 AA cell; each larger type of cell holds 10 times as much power as the one before it. (By the way, have any of you noticed how ridiculously large amounts of energy standard ultra-tech power cells are able to hold?) As a final disclaimer, I do not have a license from anyone to publish this cyberware list; nor do I make any profit from it whatsoever. (In fact, it's cost me quite a few hours' work, and I've done it all for fun.) Feel free to spread it around. You don't even have to identify me as the source for it. If you do find it useful, however, I might like to hear from you. Encouraging comments are welcome, as is constructive criticism. I can be contacted at leifmk@lise.unit.no - hope someone enjoys this . . . . (And yes, some of the stuff does contradict "official" GURPS cyberware descriptions. So what?)
