Council Members Present: Katie Corneilson, Pastor Ross Goodman, Maile Hedlund, Mark Olson, Dana Ramish, Alison Roberts, Brian Sniffen, Wendy Stack, Chris Trost, George Wilson.
Also Present: Dan Ries, Vicar Jen Soltis.
Absent: Heather Sheridan.
A quorum was gathered and we came together at the Alewife Bertucci’s in God’s name at 6:56pm.
The agenda was accepted.
Motion 1. Mark Olson, Dana Ramish, and Brian Sniffen are elected President, Vice President, and Secretary, respectively. moved, seconded, carried.
Adam Braun was a Ph. D. student in Chicago, finishing all but his dissertation. Pastor Goodman describes him as a fine teacher and chaplain. He’s called to ordained ministry. As his home church, it’s appropriate for us to fund his candidacy fee. We can fund $600 of the $800 fee with money allocated for Kathryn Schnaible’s candidacy several years ago—but never spent. He’d need some coursework and a bunch of practical work: internship, clinical pastoral education, etc.
Motion 2. We will pay Adam Braun’s seminary candidacy fee with $600 from money set aside for Kathryn Schnaible’s, and $200 from the memorials fund. moved, seconded, carried.
The youth group want to bring to St. Paul a version of the mass-meal packaging drive in which they participated at Sanctuary. We give permission to host this and:
Motion 3. We designate accumulated Coffee Hour funds and those collected through April to this Kids Meal program. moved, seconded, carried.
Alison reports that she’ll be at the National Youth Gathering to deliver a workshop on Ability and Disability Theology. ELCA has offered to help us fund a Braille embosser. Martin Seltz, head of elw development at Augsburg Fortress, will be here in March. Let Alison know if you’d like to meet with him.
Donations can now be made to St. Paul tagged for Disability Ministry.
Pastor Goodman says that Katie Osweiler needs a (second) Pastoral Internship. Could it be here?
Respectfully submitted, Brian Sniffen
