So if absent players still get XP, does this basically mean half the party will permanently lag a few hundred XP behind everyone else? Andy 19:30, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
I've been having this thought as well. My general philosophy is that I'm happy to give bonuses for interesting character-specific things. But those do seem to be unlikely to happen very often (and I'd stop being okay with them if they seriously affected my ability to balance encounters for the party). I could do side trips for a sub-set of characters if such ever became appropriate, but I'm not sure if it ever will. Regardless, a few hundred XP will be a lot less important over time anyway. The people who made it to the intro session will get their first few levels slightly earlier, and after that it'll be in the noise as the XP per session increases. --Kurgan 19:52, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'd just as soon see everybody level at the same time. You can't actually give small amounts of XP in this system: either it's meaningless, or it's an offset of the levelling frequency: a session, for most people. Or a scene, if you're quick about it. Now there's an incentive for uncertain players to decide that they're certainly ready to level up. Let's just have everybody level up together when the GM says to do so.
