Talk:Aroc

Aroc's stats seem impossibly low. Even with the pre-gen stats of 10,11,12,13,14,16, there should be a human bonus of +2 in there somewhere. These stats of 10,11,12,13,15,16 are missing at least one point someplace.

Aroc is generated using Method 2 (which was, I recall agreed for new characters at the starting session, in addition to being the method for replacement characters.) I went by the sample arrays on PHB p18, which yields 16,15,12,11,11,10 as one of the options. +2 bump to one of the 11's yields Aroc's current stats. I just double checked now, but the array also appears correct against the point-buy costs on PHB p17. (9 points to buy the 16, 7 points to buy the 15, 2 points to buy the 12, 1 point each to buy a pair of 11's and 2 points to buy the 8 up to a 10 = 22.) -MRF

Ah, see, there is the problem. Since you can put your bump anywhere as a human, you put it on the highest stat, which maximizes its utility to you - bumping a stat to 16 saves you more points than bumping a stat to 13. --Andy 13:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Hmm. That would do it. A different pregen array (15,15,13,12,11,10) with the +2 bump to the high stat gives Aroc 17,15,13,12,11,10, which puts him a stat point ahead of where he is now. Up to Kurgan whether he feels it's appropriate to allow me to retcon that, though. -MRF

I added a note to the Table rules about that. You're welcome to keep tweaking your character for the first few sessions. I figure by the time you hit Level 2 you should probably be done with that, and any further changes would be Retraining or stat boosts. --Kurgan 18:55, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Revised Aroc - I've gone to the 16,14,14,12,11,8 pregen array, and then bumped the 16 to an 18 for Aroc's intelligence, so he suddenly goes from +3 to +4 on most attack and damage rolls. Skill training, powers and feats remain the same, and I've adjusted his skill numbers and defenses for the revised ability array. - MRF (8/28/08)
